Common Ground

$1,242.00

Common Ground is inspired by the wing of a monarch butterfly viewed at a macro scale. The work marks the origin of the MIGRAR salt technique, which was first developed during its creation.

Built through layers of acrylic ink, salt, and reactivated pigments, the work draws from memories of growing up alongside a first-generation Mexican friend and spending afternoons on playgrounds filled with monarch butterflies during their annual migration. It also reflects on the collective effort that has emerged across North America to protect monarch populations.

Its title refers to the shared ground beneath all migration. Long before borders were established species, people, seeds, and stories moved across this continent, shaping the interconnected world we inhabit today.
