Gallop
Gallop is part of Mariah Oller’s ongoing series of running women created during a period of political and personal upheaval. A red horse moves across a saturated blue sky formed through the MIGRAR salt technique, reflecting themes of movement, identity, and the instinct to seek freedom and belonging.
Created amid relocation, divorce, and a reevaluation of self, the work explores migration not only as departure, but as a reclaiming of identity. The imagery of horseback riding references both the artist’s upbringing in Texas and her life in Mexico City.
